We support international work with orphaned, homeless and/or captive nonhuman exotic primates. International Primate Rescue was launched in South Africa in March 1996 in response to numerous requests to house unwanted primates.
The demand for homes for these primates is greater than ever today. Please browse this website to get an idea of our work. We hope that you will be willing to support us.
The pictures on this page show some of the monkeys now being cared for at the sanctuary. For more information on individual monkeys, go to the picture gallery and click on the picture of the monkey you would like to know more about.
One of the very best ways you can help us to care for these unwanted, abandoned, neglected and abused primates is through sponsorship. For more information about sponsoring a monkey see this page, or go here for a leaflet.
For more information about our facilities and rehabilitation work, see this page.
Have you ever wanted to work hands-on with monkeys?
If you are an animal lover who needs some “time out”, why not join our team of volunteers at our primate sanctuary in Pretoria, South Africa. It will be an experience you will never forget – you will interact and get to know our 75 rescued monkeys. Your work with the monkeys is very important to them and will improve their quality of life.
No qualifications required – on site training given.
And join our Facebook group "Friends of IPR" to see video footage of some of our sanctuary monkeys!
